My First Day

I came to France with another au pair and I'm sure glad I had someone else to travel with because it was a long trip! Annalise and I left the USA on August 17th and we arrived at the Paris airport on August 18th exhausted and dragging tons of luggage with us. Karine ( Annalise's France mom :) ) met us after we picked up our luggage. We were nervous that we weren't going to be able to find whoever was picking us up, but Karine made a nice sign with our names on it and she was waiting right outside the door. Somehow we fit all of our luggage in her car!! It was a close call. Then we drove to Rennes where they dropped me off at Cedric and Marie-Berengere house where I will be for the next year. It's a very cute house and I have a nice spacious room with a very comfy bed! I've met Maelle-Marie and Aymeric, the two oldest children, and they are such a blast!!! I've had so much fun with them and I cant wait to meet the two younger kids, Guilhem and Marie-Faustine. So after Marie-Berengere showed me around the house she had a meal prepared. We had salad and keesh. (I know I spelled that wrong!) And it was very delicious! Then Annalise left with Karine to go to there home in St. Malo.

Cedric and Marie-Berengere went to work and so me, Maelle-Marie and Aymeric got to hang out. We played some fun games and built a cool boat with legos. Then there parents got home from work and they showed me around the city of Rennes. Oh my gosh!!! It is super awesome! I'll put pictures up soon but seriously, pictures will not do justice! You'll just have to come see for yourself! After they showed me around we went and ate at a creperie. And of course that was really good! I had a crepe with 3 different types of cheese in it. Delicious! We came back home and I unpacked a little and got ready for bed. I was super exhausted and fell right asleep and of course woke up late the next day. I hung out with the kids all day! We went to the park and played on some spinning things that made me super dizzy but it was really fun! Then we played ping pong. Yes, they have ping pong tables at the park! It was super cool! Then we played frisbee and soccer. By the time we got home we realized we had been there for 3 hours!!! Time flies when your having fun!!

On the way home from the park an old lady was sitting on a bench and she asked something in French that I didn't understand. The kids started walking towards her and Maelle-Marie (she is the best interpreter in the world!) told me that the lady asked for help to take her jacket off. So we helped her with that and we're on our way back home. I'm really glad that the kids were there with me cuz I might have walked passed a little old lady who had asked for help! That would have been so sad! When we got home we played some French games. They were really fun....I lost every game. Then that night we went back to the city. On Saturdays Rennes has a really big outside market. By big I mean huge! They sell everything fresh including fruit, veggies, fish, cheese, meat, bread, sausage, flowers etc. I can't wait to know enough French so i can buy some stuff there! And tonight, Aymeric's godmother came to visit. She works for the French prime minister....so yeah, pretty legit. They prepared fish and crab and it was super tasty! I asked them if it would be alright to take a picture of it before i ate it. haha. So I'll put that up soon!

I have had such a great time the past few days and can't wait to share my new adventures to come and the rest of my time in this beautiful country!!!!

you are so funny, and turning into a true blogger already-- taking pictures of your food before you eat it! I can't wait to see all the pictures, sounds like you are having a blast. I will still work on your blog once I get a few photo sessions and the first week of school out of the way! I am glad you got there safely and are having a blast!
